ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PROGRAMME

Candidates wishing to study for the B. Tech EEE degree must satisfy the minimum University requirements for admission. In addition;

  • Direct Entry

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education ( KCSE Mean grade C+) with C+ in Mathematics, C+ in physics and Chemistry or Physical Science plus at least C+ in English /Kiswahili

  • Entry via University Bridging

A holder of accredited Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the Murang’a University of Technology or equivalent

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

Specifically the B. Tech EEE graduates should be able to:

  1. Generate and disseminate new knowledge in matters pertaining to Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology in the society.
  2. Interact effectively with the general public with a view to enhancing use of new knowledge related to Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology.
  3. Analyze and Solve problems related to Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology using appropriate approaches, attitudes and knowledge gained.
  4. Plan, develop and conduct research studies in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology that would contribute to national development.

GOAL OF THE PROGRAMME

Tech EEE is intended to equip the learners with knowledge and technical skills in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology needed in industry and to become researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs in this field and related areas.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Students Class Attendance
    1. Students must attend at least eighty (80) per cent of the classes for all the courses registered.
    2. Where a student registers for extra elective courses, s/he must attend at least eighty 80% of the classes and the course cannot be dropped after 3 (three) weeks of registration unless with permission from Chairman of Department.
    3. Students must independently write a supervised project and implement in accordance with the university guidelines on under graduate project.
    4. Students must attend industrial attachment for period of at least 12 weeks.
  • Lecturer’s Obligations
    1. A lecturer must avail to the students a course outline and a schedule of any course requirement in the university prescribed format scheduled lecture.
    2. A lecturer must meet the required contact hours within the teaching session prescribed in the university academic calendar.
    3. A lecturer should remain accessible for consultation to the students over the entire teaching session in which a course is taught.
    4. The lecturer shall take regular class attendance.

REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION

To qualify for the award of the degree, a candidate must have:

  1. Done and passed all required course units
  2. Passed the Industrial Attachment.

Classification of Degree

The Degree award shall be classified using cumulative average score obtained for the degree course studied. Accordingly, the Bachelor of Technology in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology shall be classified as follows;
