Department of Mechanical Engineering

The department of Mechanical engineering has two sections namely Production Engineering and Automotive Engineering

Production Engineering: is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the production and use of heat and mechanical power for design, production, and operation of machines and tools.

Automotive Engineering: is a branch of vehicle engineering that incorporates elements of mechanical, electrical, electronic and safety engineering as applied to the design, manufacture and operation of motorcycles, automobiles, buses and trucks and their respective engineering subsystems.

Vision: The vision of the department is to produce graduates with technical skills relevant to industry demands and for self-employment.

Mission: To develop and train personnel with required skills in production and mechanical engineering right from certificate to postgraduate levels.

OBJECTIVES

The Department was established to:
  • Develop technical courses to cater for market demands.
  • To train students in certificate, diploma, degree and postgraduates courses.

The department is committed to promote the acquisition of knowledge and skills in the core disciplines of mechanical engineering.
