Master of Technology in Electrical and Electronics Engineering

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PROGRAMME

Candidates wishing to study for the M.Tech EEE degree must satisfy the minimum University requirements. In addition;

Applicants shall be:

  1. Holders of a Bachelors of Technology degree qualification in Electrical and Electronic Technology, Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Bachelors of Philosophy degree qualification in Electrical and Electronic Technology or their equivalent qualification with at least Upper Second Class Honor’s from MUT or any other institution recognized by Senate and Commission of University Education.
  2. Holders of a Bachelors of Technology degree qualification in Electrical and Electronic Technology, Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Bachelors of Philosophy degree qualification in Electrical and Electronic Technology or their equivalent qualification with a Lower Second class degree must demonstrate at least 2 year post-qualification work experience in relevant field of Electrical Engineering.

DURATION OF STUDY

Two (2) academic years.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

The following are the learning outcomes to the courses in the programme. By the end of the course the student shall be able to:

  1. Carry out research and present their findings in scientific conferences and publish in scholarly journals.
  2. Apply knowledge of mathematics and science in a creative and innovative way to design, develop and produce useful products and/or services for society; and be able to manage these activities.
  3. Analyze complex electrical and electronics engineering problems and develop innovative solutions.
  4. Advance to higher levels of training and engage in life-long learning in the specialized areas of the electrical and electronic engineering discipline.

GOAL OF THE PROGRAMME

The aim of this programme is to produce qualified Electrical Engineering Technologists with specialized technical, managerial, research and innovative skills and who can demonstrate individual accomplishment of high professional and academic standards.

The following are the programme objectives of the Master of Technology programme in Electrical and Electronic Engineering:

  1. Enhance the knowledge and design skills in Electrical Engineering through highly specialized advanced training
  2. Develop skills for scientific research through training in research methodology and rigorous research leading to a research thesis.
  3. Provide innovative and entrepreneurial skills for development of home-grown solutions to Electrical Engineering problems.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Student requirement

The student shall be required to attend all classes, attend academic writing and seminar presentations and sit for all examinations to qualify for graduation for the award of Master of Technology in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

  • Lecturer’s requirements

Lecturers shall be required to attend all classes, give at least two continuous assessment tests (CATs) and a final examination, supervise projects/theses, grade and return them on time.

During the 3rd Semester of the 1st Year, the students shall proceed for an industrial attachment and prepare their research proposals.

  1. Carry out research and present their findings in scientific conferences and publish in scholarly journals.
  2. Apply knowledge of mathematics and science in a creative and innovative way to design, develop and produce useful products and/or services for society; and be able to manage these activities.
  3. Analyze complex electrical and electronics engineering problems and develop innovative solutions.

REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION

For the award of the degree, a candidate must have:

  1. Attended not less than 2/3 (two thirds) of the contact hours in each course unit.
  2. Passed all required core course units and required elective course units.
  3. Passed a Thesis

Classification of Degree

The Degree to be awarded under these regulations shall be the Master of Technology in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with no classification.
